What we do

Feed America operates a search engine, not a food bank. We index data from federal sources (USDA SNAP Retailer Database, USDA NSLP/SFSP, HRSA FQHC, state WIC agencies, NCES schools), state agencies, and curated nonprofit partners. Every resource appears on equal terms — no paid placements, no promoted listings, no user data sold.

The directory powers feedam.org search, our HSDS 3.0 Open Referral feed (built for Findhelp, United Way 211, Unite Us, and academic researchers), our public API, and our embeddable widget. Third-party referral services can evaluate the feed; availability does not establish their adoption.

How we're funded

Tax-deductible donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. We don't sell user data, charge fees, or accept paid placements. Our Candid Platinum profile publishes our annual financials. Donate · View transparency disclosures.

Sister 501(c)(3) entities Feed America operates two state-focused sibling 501(c)(3)s — independent legal entities with their own EINs, their own Candid Platinum profiles, and their own donation flows for donors who care about a specific state: Verify each entity by EIN on IRS.gov Tax Exempt Organization Search.
